Toussaint and K-Doe to join La. Music Hall of Fame

Allen Toussaint and Ernie K-Doe will be inducted to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame tomorrow at K-Doe's Mother-in-Law Lounge in New Orleans, according to the Associated Press. K-Doe died in 2001.
The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame is currently a "virtual museum," available for viewing online, but executive director Mike Shepherd said the hall plans to open next year in a downtown space with two performance stages, a recording studio and multimedia exhibits.

Two weeks worth of music

Gumbo Radio's playlist now has 14 days worth of music, with 5,675 songs. I'm going to hold off adding any more music to the library for now. There's a shrinking hard drive issue that needs to be addressed, and I want to normalize all the tunes so they play at one audio level. That's the next major update, once I get to it.

Hope you're enjoying the music.

So long, Sam

Sam Butera passed away yesterday in Las Vegas. The legendary New Orleans saxophonist was 81 years old.

Gumbo Radio on your iPhone

Live365 now has an iPhone app. Go to the iTunes site and search for "Live365." Download the app, and then you can hear Gumbo Radio on that new-fangled iPhone of yours.

The loop's off

All right. The live mix is back on. Hope you had a great Easter.

The loop's on

I've switched the broadcast to the 5-hour loop. I'm giving my Mac a rest over the weekend. I'll switch it back to the live mode on Monday. Hope you and yours have a beautiful Easter.

Eddie Bo passes away

Happy Mardi Gras!

I was going to wait until tomorrow to kick in the Mardi Gras mix. But what the hell. There's about 8.5 hours of Mardi Gras tunes and other assorted nuttiness playing right now. On Ash Wednesday, I'll kick the larger playlist back into the broadcast. Hope you have a safe and happy Mardi Gras!
